With Halloween less than two months away, costume stores across the country are gearing up for the holiday rush by hiring temporary workers.
KSAT-TV reports that pop-up Halloween stores in San Antonio, Texas, have already opened their doors to consumers, and according to Spirit Halloween owner Tammy Vick, the number of workers willing to help out has been astounding.
"We've just been inundated with applicants," Vick told the new source. "For a lot of people (who) work for us, it is their job that's holding them over until they can find something permanent."
According to Crain's New York Business, leading party goods chain Party City is also planning to hire, anticipating the mad rush of eager children and adults on the hunt for costumes.
The company expects to add more than 14,000 temporary workers, with each store hiring an additional 15 to 50 seasonal employees, including cashiers, roadside characters, stock room associates, and costume and accessory workers.
According to the National Retail Federation, Halloween is a $5.8 billion holiday, KSAT-TV adds.
