The biggest growth in staffing so far this year has been in information technology, according to Sona Sharma, writing for Staffing Industry. According to her, the market has been growing steadily, and she predicts that it will continue outperforming other staffing segments for at least another few years.
However, she cautions recruiting IT professionals into the staffing market is becoming more difficult versus selling that professional to a company. According to Sharma, staffing firms need to be careful about how they recruit the limited number of qualified IT workers that are available.
Most workers in the IT field, according to research by Sharma, find staffing firms by asking a friend for a recruiter referral (37 percent), and others will go on the Internet to look for staffing companies (34 percent).
One example of a town that is contracting out for IT is Queensbury, New York, according to the Post Star. They are using temporary help IT workers as backup instead of hiring a second full-time worker for the department. This strategy will save money and help protect the town budget from too much expenditure.
Hiring out for IT is a great idea for companies that plan on growing and expanding with the market. By contracting through an employer of record, there are reduced costs associated with government compliance.
