According to a recent CareerBuilder/Inavero survey, a disproportionate amount of job seekers don't turn to staffing firms for potential leads.
CareerBuilder's Eric Gilpin explains that only 3 percent of candidates look to staffing firms as their first option for jobs. A major part of this is propsects' lack of awareness of these firms, and that agencies are missing "huge opportunities" to attract job seekers, especially since nearly 80 percent of those polled said they were actively looking for positions.
"You're not where they start [their job search] – but you are the most effective," said Gilpin, president of the CareerBuilder's Staffing and Recruiting Group, at the recent International Confederation of Private Employment Agencies' (Ciett) World Employment Conference in London, England.
He added that what many candidates may not know is they're 45 percent more likely to earn interviews with employers if they engage with an agency first.
More and more, recruiters are contacting prospects via mobile devices, according to a recent Wanted Analytics poll. As such, hiring demand for staffing professionals with mobile skills has increased exponentially over the past four years. Researchers found that in April alone, there were more than 200 jobs available requiring mobile-friendly recruiters.
