Organizations hiring temporary ACA navigators

Nonprofits and other organizations are in a rush to hire specialists who can help guide patients through the intricacies of the Affordable Care Act, according to The Associated Press. These temporary workers will need to be well-versed in the ins and outs of the new law, particularly as it relates to consumers of health care. People will have the opportunity to select coverage on public insurance exchanges starting Oct. 1, and their coverage will begin in the new year. Many of those who will take advantage of this opportunity are consumers who have never been insured before.
This situation presents a problem for many nonprofits and health organizations. These groups often have grant money set aside for hiring ACA consultants for those they serve, but it is beginning to become an issue of where there is adequate time to hire and train them. The complexities of the new law, and the difficulty of dealing with so much information for each patient, may be overwhelming to many. The training is scheduled to take 20 hours in itself. However, for those who are hired and trained, this is a contingent work opportunity that can help change people's lives.
