Schools hiring temp workers to be substitute teachers

Some schools have begun to hire contract workers to serve as substitute teachers. One such school district in Bethlehem, Penn., is considering the move to avoid vacancies when the total number of empty spots in the school district exceeds the number of available substitute teachers.
It's also a great way for schools to cut down on expenses having to do with Affordable Care Act requirements. Typically, any business with more than 50 employees must provide insurance to any workers who have weekly schedules of more than 30 hours.
