Why contingent workers enjoy their positions

CPA Practice Advisor published a report on contingent employment that highlighted a variety of perspectives from temporary workers. It is an illuminating look at what motivates temporary and contract workers to take these positions, and where they hope to go from contingent work.
Contingent employees interviewed for the piece cited many reasons they are currently working on a temporary basis. One reported the flexibility was important to her, and that she would not take a permanent position after enjoying the benefits of temporary work. Some enjoy financial benefits as well.
Of those in the information technology profession, CPA Practice Advisor wrote they are essentially able to name their own price for contract work. Another said she was not certain, at the time she became a temporary worker, whether she was ready to commit to a position full-time. She was eventually hired by the company where she was placed, after she and the company had time to try out the fit and determine that such a commitment was appropriate. According to the article, 40 percent of temporary workers become permanent employees of the companies where they are placed.
Contingent work can be a great choice for many workers. Whatever their reasons, many of those who comprise the growing temporary workforce wouldn't have it any other way.
